Pantone (global color authority) named honeysuckle pink color-of-the-year (COTY) for 2011.  The hue supposedly encouraged us to face everyday troubles with “verve and vigor”.

For 2012 Pantone named Tangerine Tango as COTY and if you’re curious to know how this came about, read here.

If you’re looking to outfit your home with color / furniture, read here.

If you’re seeking inspiration on sporting color, look no further.

ari-gold-men's-fashionMrs. Ari complimented Ari Gold very well…  what’s that Ari, seersucker?  You make girls’ lips pucker.  The real Ari and his sibling Rahm Emanuel (mayor of Chicago) were raised in such a manner that it was mandatory for them to have debate at the dinner table.  It makes for good success, I like the idea.  This year after eight seasons we finally  bid adieu to Entourage.  HBO rocks.

Not many can pull this feat without seeming to overdo it. Pay heed to the mini-gingham check print on the tie. If it suits your skin and ensemble, the caramel or camel color is one to look out for in 2012. I couldn’t pull it off.

The Golden Rule is, “Never wear a crew neck undershirt under your plaid shirt.”  Turtle did well.

matt-damon-style-fashion-teacher-cameramanMatt Damon is always good will hunting, always stunting.  If there’s one thing cameramen and teachers learned in 2011 it’s that, if you have a point to make you better know what you’re talking about.  If you missed it check out this video… Matt Damon Addresses Teacher & Camera Man.  That’s a good laugh.

lloyd-entourage-tv-series-style-fashion I refuse to sport sweaters over dress shirts when suited in a blazer.  The sweaters never drape well when layering and v-neck sweaters should never replace a vest.  That color coordination definitely employed creative thinking Lloyd, whomever dressed you.

The stout, heavy statured look best in double breasted suits; when slim, go single breasted.  I like that rich blue as it’d serve as a benevolent coat of paint on a Maserati.
kanye-west-jay-z-watch-the-throne-style-fashion-dw-kanye-westWe love Yeezy and tight is in, but really Yeezy?  Leather tights?  Mr. West now runs a women’s fashion label entitled “Dw Kanye West”.  It’s had mixed reviews… read here and here.  He’s headed in the right direction if you ask me.   Kanye dresses young but if we’ve learned anything from the ilk that resonates in his music he may very likely graduate to the top of the fashion class in no time.  Although, it’s odd he’s concentrating on women’s fashion given he’s not a designer by profession.  Anyone think Yeezy needs a swagger coach?  I hope he finds this as facetious as I.  As for timeless attire you can find Jigga dressed in casual Timberland’s and tee’s all the time.

Both artists collaborated to create great music this year, they’re Ivy Leaguers.  ‘No Church in The Wild’ is a favorite song.  It was a good year for hip hop sales in comparison to other music genres.

miami-vice-sonny-crocket-style-fashion-don-johnsonSonny Crocket and Ricardo Tubbs… see those white loafers and white oxfords / pointers.  See that pink polo with popped collars.  I can only imagine the nightlife in Miami in the roaring 80’s after those sets, wow!

miami-vice-sonny-crocket-style-fashion-don-johnsonHey Suit, you got my mula?  Don Johnson aka Crocket is one of the highest paid stars in television history.  “To say that the series failed to catapult Philip Michael Thomas (Ricardo Tubbs) to stardom would be an understatement. He has only done a small handful of acting roles in the 20 years since Miami Vice ended,” courtesy of Redriverpak.

tom-selleck-magnum-pi-men's-style-fashion What’s up with that girly-pink-top Tom Selleck?  Really?

tom-selleck-magnum-pi-men's-style-fashionNo one made wearing a baseball cap as genuine than Thomas Magnum.  Pay heed to the classic military dress shirt (epaulettes & two buttoned front pockets).

Cowboy stunting…  check print, classic blazer, slap-ya-face-and-leave-an-imprint cowboy belt and cowboy hat.  We’d love to see his silver / gold tip boots.

tom-selleck-magnum-pi-style-fashionHiggins must be saying to Magnum, “Oh my, Magnum!”  The Magnum P.I. tv series goes down in the history books as one of the greats.  Read this dialogue…

Thomas Sullivan Magnum III: [voiceover] Hawaii is one of those places that keeps topping itself — just when you think you’ll never see a sunset as beautiful, there comes a sunrise that even Gauguin can only imagine. It kind of makes unemployment easier to take.
Jonathan Quayle Higgins III: Magnum…
[seeing him sunbathing]
Jonathan Quayle Higgins III: oh, Magnum.
Thomas Sullivan Magnum III: Hi, Higgins, Di.
Jonathan Quayle Higgins III: I have a proposition for you, Magnum.
Thomas Sullivan Magnum III: Now wait a minute, just wait a second, Higgins. Now this is really getting depressing, this constant deal making — I’ll give you this if you give me that, it’s so unnecessary. Now here we are in paradise, we have everything we could ever possibly want out of life just here. So why, why can’t we just do things for one another simply because we want to, simply because we’re friends, simply because we feel like helping each other?
Jonathan Quayle Higgins III: Magnum, I want you to know I’m quite touched, I never thought you were capable of those admirable sentiments, I really mean that.
Thomas Sullivan Magnum III: Thank you.
Jonathan Quayle Higgins III: I came here this morning to, just as you so aptly describe it, make a deal. You see the lads have been under the weather and I need to pick up some paperwork from the club. I was going to ask you to fetch it for me and in return I was going to give you the use of the tennis court for one week. Now I’m just asking you as a friend.
Thomas Sullivan Magnum III: Make it two weeks.

mike-tyson-2011-men's-fashion-hangover-II-joe-frazier-interview-cnnMike Tyson’s had a good year… in the press, in the premiere of Hangover Part II and in the news.  He’s witty too.  If you want a chuckle check out his Herman Cain parody and his CNN Joe Frazier interview.  I’d sport those with dark blue jeans, a chocolate v-neck and a chocolate velvet blazer anywhere, any day of the week!  V-neck tees with blazers are considered a favorite casual ensemble.  Garment color should always be mindful of skin color.  Tyson looks good in cream.

When shopping, stick to staple hues that mesh well with your skin and pieces of attire you already own.  You can’t convince me to wear tangerine tango.  The fit, drape and quality is what matters most.
